The Research Bazaar

The Research Bazaar In-Person

On April the 26th and 27th the inaugural Victoria University Research Bazaar and Digital Research awards will be hosted on the Kelburn Campus. Victoria will join a number of New Zealand and Australian universities who have previously hosted ResBaz—the first of which was hosted by the University of Melbourne in 2014.

Staff and Students can come together to learn new digital research skills, showcase current projects and collaborate on planning new research opportunities. The sessions will be interactive, hands on and led by current researchers and support staff from Victoria.

Session streams include:

  • Code - Software Carpentry courses where you can get stuck into learning or refining your skills on essential research software including Python, Git and Shell;
  • Learn - attend various sessions to get a small taste of programs, tools and research support tools and tricks;
  • Make - try your hand at a number of hands-on gadgets (Pi, robotics, Scratch, etc.);
  • Present – Key stories and presentations from researchers across the university.

The final afternoon features a ‘Data Olympics’ where teams race to use government data to produce scandalous propaganda. Prize-winners will earn the coveted title of the ‘Victoria Data Champions’
