Te Hāpai - Treaty of Waitangi PARTS 1 & 2 In-Person

LOCATION:  ALAN MACDIARMID BUILDING, ROOM 101 (AM101),  KELBURN CAMPUS

The course runs over two half days on 26th July and 2 August - attendance is required on both dates.

Te Hāpai is a staff development programme designed to increase the understanding and use of Māori culture, language and the Treaty of Waitangi at Victoria.  Further information about the programme can be found here.

The Introduction to the Treaty of Waitangi course consists of two 4-hour workshops and participants must attend both to complete the course. The dates and venues are:

  1. Thursday 26 July 2018,   9.00am - 1.00pm  (Room AM101)  and 
  2. Thursday 2 August 2018,    9.00am - 1.00pm  (Room AM 103)

At the end of this two-workshop course participants will be able to:

  • recount key historical events relating to the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi;
  • evaluate the impact of post-Treaty processes and actions on Māori that have led to their current situation;
  • explain the main Treaty-related governance documents and processes at Victoria;
  • apply the Treaty to their work at Victoria.

Presenter

The course is presented by Peter Adds, Associate Professor in Te Kawa a Māui - School of Māori Studies at Victoria University.

Cost

There is no cost to attend the cost.  However, your cost centre will be charged $75.00 if you withdraw within 48 hours of either workshop.
