FGR PhD Workshop: What's the story? Argument in thesis writing In-Person
What do you consider the most important part of your thesis? The literature review? Your findings? In fact, the most important part is the story you tell about your project - often called the argument - because this links the different parts of the thesis together coherently. The argument makes it clear to the reader what you did, why you did it, what you found and why this matters. If the argument is not clearly expressed throughout the thesis, the reader can become confused and even lost. In this workshop, we'll consider the role of the argument, where and how it might be expressed in the thesis, and draft some text to help make your argument salient.
Audience
This workshop will be most useful for candidates who have been enrolled for more than a year and have begun drafting their thesis. Participants are encouraged to bring their draft (thesis) Table of Contents to the workshop.
