Turnitin Assignments (For word-based assignments) In-Person

In this session we will cover how Turnitin can be used to assist with not only detecting similarity of texts and providing feedback to students' written work, it is also a tool which can also assist students with improving their writing skills. We will also touch base on where and how Turnitin has been used across various study levels 100-500, including for PhD study. 

What will you learn:  

  • Differences when compared to a Blackboard assignment   

  • How to setup a Turnitin assignment   

  • How to create Rubrics and attach them to the assignments   

  • How do students submit a Turnitin assignment? Can one submit an assignment on a student/s behalf?  

  • Dos’ and Don’t for students and staff  

  • Marking (Including interpreting a similarity report) and Grade Release process  

  • Student View (Grades and Feedback)  

  • If time permits, share about Turnitin for iPad  

What to do after the webinar to apply the skills learnt:  

  • Check to see if any of your current assessment will be a Turnitin Assignment  

If Yes: Then  

  • Create a Turnitin Assignment  

  • Create a Turnitin Assignment Rubric and attach it to an Assignment  

  • Know where to seek help, such as whether a Rubric needs to be tweaked  

  • Show students where to find help the created Assignment, if they face challenges on how to submit their Assignment and/or how to interpret the similarity report during marking process 

Second Phase post Student Submission:  

  • Staff should be able to download and install Turnitin for iPad if they have an iPad   

  • Navigate and be able to grade assignments (using Web-Browser or iPad App)  

  • Post grading and Moderation Release Grades and Feedback for students
