Orientation sessions are designed for staff who are new to supervision and experienced supervisors who are new to Victoria University of Wellington.  External supervisors are also welcome to attend an orientation supervision.

The workshop aims to raise participants' awareness of the rationale underpinning VUW supervision and examination policies and procedures and their implications. It will include session on Admission to VUW, Establishing a positive supervision relationship, Guiding candidates through the Masters/PhD/Professional Doctorates and Progressing from Provisional to Full Registration (for PhD candidates).

Participants will be provided with guidelines and support on Masters and doctoral procedures, practices and policies, and invited to register for more specialised worskhops at other times during the year.

Completing the Orientation is a minimum requirement for all supervisors at Victoria.
