AUHC Yoga - Kelburn

AUHC Yoga - Kelburn In-Person

As part of the AUHC we will be offering FREE YOGA classes for those registered in the Te Herenga Waka team.

The Australasian University Health Challenge (AUHC) is a health-focused initiative for staff and students across Australia and New Zealand.

The 2021 challenge dates are Monday 6 September until Sunday 17 October.

Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington have participated in 2019 and 2020 with the aim to encourage and support as many of our students and staff to get involved.

Throughout the six weeks of the challenge we will encourage everyone to increase their daily steps and physical activity through small yet significant behavioural changes.

Read more about the 2021 challenge and register to be part of the Te Herenga Waka team. #everystepcounts

Location: Kelburn Dance Room, University Recreation

Yoga mats are provided at Kelburn. If we are at Alert Level 2, please remember to bring your own yoga mat, water bottle and sweat towel.

All fitness levels & beginners welcome at these classes.

Please ensure you register for the Te Herenga Waka AUHC team and convert your yoga class into steps via the 10,000steps dashboard or app.

Wednesday: Beginner Yoga A slower paced Yoga class that combines stretching, breathing, balance, strength and relaxation moves.

Friday: Yin Yoga More meditative version of the popular physical and spiritual discipline of yoga. Poses are held for a long period of time (typically 3-5 mins) to target the connective tissues (ligaments) rather than focusing on the muscles. The yin poses, therefore, are passive and performed while seated or in a reclining position, allowing time and gravity to deepen the stretch and target the fascia.
