New Staff Welcome and Orientation Programme In-Person
PROGRAMME DETAILS:
The New Staff Welcome and Orientation Programme provides a comprehensive and holistic experience for all new professional and academic staff. The programme includes three parts that are delivered across the year. Part 1 immediately below provides details of the 2nd of February 2022 event. Please read further down for more details on the overall orientation programme.
Part 1: Wednesday 2nd February 2022, 8.50am – 1pm
Welcome – For all Professional and Academic Staff
Held in the beautiful Hunter Council Chamber, the morning will officially welcome you to Te Herenga Waka with a Mihi Whakatau and include an introduction to the diversity of the university community, our values and working together. It will offer opportunities to meet and network with other new staff and initiate conversations with a range of people and units across the university. You will also hear from our Vice-Chancellor, meet the Senior Leadership Team, find out about the history of our marae and enjoy morning tea.

Part 2: Thursday 3rd February, 2022
Orientation to Academic Life at Victoria For all new staff in academic roles, or professional roles that require a sound understanding of the academic environment, you should also attend this event.
Part 3: Thursday 10th and Friday 11th February 2022
The Introduction to Learning and Teaching (TILT) For those new to university teaching you should also attend Part 3 which is an Introduction to Learning and Teaching. This is a 2-day introductory workshop. As a new staff member you do not need to do anything to register for this.
