FGR "How to manage conflicts in research supervision" In-Person

A session available for academic staff to help encourage quality supervision of research students.

Objective:

  • To reflect on challenges in doctoral supervision
  • To provide guidance and support for PhD Coordinators and Associate Deans in dealing with problems that may occur in the supervisory relationship

The session comprises a brief presentation followed by a group discussion. Topics covered include:

  • Types and sources of conflicts
  • Reducing and preventing conflict
  • What is conflict resolution
  • Factors to consider when facing a conflict
  • How to respond to conflict (healthy VS unhealthy ways of managing conflict)
  • Resolving issues: Procedures
