FGR "How to manage conflicts in research supervision" In-Person
A session available for academic staff to help encourage quality supervision of research students.
Objective:
- To reflect on challenges in doctoral supervision
- To provide guidance and support for PhD Coordinators and Associate Deans in dealing with problems that may occur in the supervisory relationship
The session comprises a brief presentation followed by a group discussion. Topics covered include:
- Types and sources of conflicts
- Reducing and preventing conflict
- What is conflict resolution
- Factors to consider when facing a conflict
- How to respond to conflict (healthy VS unhealthy ways of managing conflict)
- Resolving issues: Procedures
