FGR "Effective supervision meetings and monitoring student progress" In-Person
A session available for academic staff to help encourage quality supervision of research students.
Objective: To provide guidance on securing a good monitoring system of the progress students make in their PhD
The session comprises a brief presentation followed by a group discussion. Topics covered include:
- Effective meeting practices
- Frequency, length, responsibilities
- What to do “before”, “during”, and “after” a meeting
- The meeting agenda
- How to get more involvement
- Reporting as an opportunity to reflect on progress/needs and develop plans for improvement

About the facilitaors:
Professor Lisa Marriot: Her research interests include social justice and inequality. She has a particular interest in the behavioural impacts of taxation. Lisa teaches taxation at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
