An introduction to mātauranga Māori In-Person / Online

Mātauranga Māori has been described as “the unique Māori way of viewing the world" (WAI262 2011:xxiii) but what does that mean, and how does it relate to your research? This session will focus on the meaning and application of mātauranga Māori, understanding key features of Māori research practice, and considering some common Māori research issues.

Associate Professor Meegan Hall (Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāi te Rangi, Ngāti Apakura, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) is Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Mātauranga Māori) at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington where she provides strategic oversight and guidance around Māori learning, teaching and research, and management of Māori student support and external Māori engagement.
